Complex machines and structures have normally multiple natural frequencies and so with multiple dynamic behavior. Variable speed of engines or motors and different construction, may result in multiple resonance phenomena. Understanding the dynamic behavior of a structure or structural component is becoming an increasingly important part of the design process for any mechanical systems. Modal analysis generates a computer model of a mechanical system from measured frequency response functions of the system.
